SEDUM... The Adventure Begins

Sedum - gorgeous flowers... but look at the shape of the leaves!

OK, so I am not exactly a sports person. I am an outdoor lover... I love walking in the woods, camping, canoeing, even biking... but my favorite outdoor activity is gardening. I find that gardening is like meditating for me... but much more interesting.

I love cleaning out the debris from last year, splitting my perennials, moving them around... putting in new plants and planning out a vegetable garden. There are always interesting birds, insects and animals around.

We have a decent size lot, considering we are in the city, so we are very lucky to be able to enjoy a nice garden. Last year, I was attending the bar admission course from May until August, so I did not get to spend as much time as I would have liked gardening. But luckily, an amazing garden already existed!

This is the first house I have moved into where there was a huge, well developed perennial garden. Dorothy loves gardening too. She used to be into vegetable gardening. I am hoping I can bring her over to perennials... they are so interesting.

My favorite perennials are the dozens of types of Sedums, as they have very interesting leaves, which is very important as perennials don't bloom for long. I look for Sedums that are different sizes, shapes, textures and colours. Here are a few pictures of Sedums, so you can see what I mean.

Do you have a garden?

Comments:
Love the pics of the sedum, really like the purple. Makes me itch for spring, but I'm sure we've got a LONG way to go. Sigh....
