long day
What a day!
7:30 - get up, get Owen going...tell him to eat breakfast while I get ready...
8 am - Owen is not ready to go to school! He hasn't even eaten breakfast... so I take Oliver to some special leadership program he is going to in the west end and return to the house to get Owen at 8:20
8:30 - take Owen to school - he is only 15 minutes late... could be worse
8:40 - stop at the office to drop off files that I took home to work on last night
8:54 - leave the office for a meeting with another lawyer at 9 am
9:11 - arrive at the meeting - just slightly late
10:15 - meeting finishes early, head back to office
10:30 - work on immigration file submissions, affidavit for motion next week, consent order for the morning meeting file
10:45 - student volunteer arrives - she works on two letters and one bill - faxing them out later on when they are ready
10:55 - call Family court to ask about two court appearances next week re: scheduling
11:45 - new client shows up who had an appointment yesterday - what to do? we don't have time for this today! I decide to give her a few minutes, which turns into over an hour long meeting
12:30 - meet with Robin to discuss this new case - decide to ask the woman to collect evidence of her claims - we make a plan to meet again next week
12:45 - realize that photocopy/printer is down - fix it guy is in office taking the whole thing apart!
1 pm - receive emergency call from client - police involved in situation (ack!)
1:20 - 2 pm appointment shows up early - this is for a transfer of a home between ex-spouses
2:45 pm - write two wills quickly for people leaving the country at 4 pm!
3:10 pm - receive phone call from Court to reschedule Monday's appearance to Tuesday, as Judge is sick - get answers about my scheduling questions
3:14 pm - another Court staff calls to return my call!
3:20 pm - talk to new client on phone - make an appointment for next week.
3:30 pm - finally see 3 pm appointment to go over crisis and response to current situation
4:05 - speak to client from early morning meeting about consent order - hurray! she agrees.
6 pm - speak to client whose case has been moved from Monday to Tuesday
6:10 pm - finish the summary of arrears for early morning file, and fax it as well as draft consent order to other lawyer for feedback
6:45 pm - finally go home - pick up Dorothy, head to the store to get some things for dinner.
There were many things that I forgot to do today. Blah. Tomorrow is another day.
